Part of the problem lies with the state government as well.

Hear that Pat Quinn?
That's all well and good, but both the state and the city are broke. Either taxes go up substantially or services decline precipitously. And either way you go, large numbers of residents are going to find it unacceptable... many are likely to say, "It's not worth it, goodbye."

Don't be surprised if Chicago's population loss only continues to accelerate.

Yeah, the program sucking low income residents. Don't let the door hit them on the way out.

Who would you rather live around?

Why do you assume that only low income residents will get disgusted and leave? You yourself said that the city needs to be "more affordable" and that higher taxes will interfere with attracting "new young blood".

I'm afraid you're contradicting yourself here.

Less government programs mean low income people will leave for somewhere that has more.
