So much for the "back-to-the-city" movement..

I'm sure that metro Chicago is continuing to grow..

^ yeah, a lot of it was a pretty big shrinking of the black population, and that our response levels were some of the worst in the country. Only 66% of people responded, and the house to house is harder in dense urban areas with multi-unit buildings. I'm sure it was undercounted by a few hundred thousand, but it propbably was in 2000 as well.

Ouch! That means Chicago's current population is even lower than it was in 1990.

After reading the article I'm also surprised that Aurora is closing in on 200,000 people, and that Joliet surpassed Naperville as Illinois' 4th-largest city. I wasn't expecting that.

I am willing to bet many of these people moved from Chicago starting in 2008 with the economy tanking and after the high rise housing projects were torn down. I think though there was a huge undercount especially of illegal aliens.

It looks like the black population's drop by 165,000 was the main driver in the numbers.
