Wickertown Park is good.
Isn't that how Roscoe Village got its name? Residents just started calling it that until it caught on?

Pretty much.

Although I believe the builder of the original subdivision called the subdivision Roscoe Village. However, I still have not found documented evidence that this is true.

All I know is I never heard anyone call it Roscoe Village until it started to gentrify in the late 90's. Real estate agents are more likely to have started calling it Roscoe Village first to get people to buy.

I think the same thing happened with East Pilsen. I suspect it was the Pods who were behind the re-branding.

I used to live on North Avenue, near Damen, and yes, the street noise was pretty loud even a few rooms in from the street. The bus announcements, the trucks engine braking (why?!), sometimes honking, and most of all motorcycles cruising back and forth. Over by California might be quieter or louder: traffic there is faster but doesn't back up; there's generally less drunk people walking around but Humboldt Park can be carnivalesque all summer long.
