The best steak I've ever had was at a campground in Steelville, MO. My SO made it.

But the second best steak I've ever had was right here in Chicago at Joe's, which admittedly is kind of a chain. But it was truly extraordinary.

IMO people who think steak is steak have never had a great one. I've had a lot of good steak, but the truly fabulous ones stick in your mind like few other meals.

I think R needs to BBQ some steak at your place this spring. Have a party! Or maybe we can have a shindig at a forest preserve.

Maybe all the restaurants stole all the "good steak".

In Pittsburgh, go to a chain grocery store like them, guess what, you'll have union butchers who will cut and serve you 'fresh steak'. Not like that 'half turned' crap they try and serve in Chicago's grocery stores.

Whoooaa boy. Plenty of butcher shops in Chicago that can cut what you want. I note your evasiveness in answering the post, thats not normal for anyone I know from Pittsburgh. Agree there are many good steaks around the country, but Chicago has more than a couple options.

I'm happy with the cheap $5 - $6 chopped steak meals at Hollywood Grill or Ronnie's in Downtown. Otherwise, I cook my own steak meals from Stampede brand steaks bought at Walmart! Walmart gets these steaks from a CHICAGO company, but these steaks are hard to find in Chicago Walmarts! The Bowling Green and Houston Walmarts have them!

And I wish the Sizzler never went out of business!
