I just got one with photos of my vehicle approaching a STOP LIGHT and then turning right after I made a full stop - and that is allowed at this intersection. I am in Wisconsin right now at my vacation home. Is there any way I can protest this - and win?

Did you stop for more than 2 seconds? There's a good chance you will lose this case

The company that sells this systems to towns has a big business with video and all kinds of ominous mailings. The towns administer the hearing process and standards are up to their own discretion -- some towns are basically sticking with "video shows you did not come to a full and complete stop with no momentum" {where video shows car was not rolling at all}...

Have you seen the video yet? You have to stop for at least 3 seconds and behind the white line

Yeah I just got one of those tickets in the mail too.. hee hee.. so you know I was on the phonecalling the village. She said well did you stop ? I said I don't know I wasn't driving. The fact of the matter is she said did I stop or did I just go... So I watched the video and yeah I me he didn't stop. So I will take responsibility for that 100 dollar ticket. If you stopped and came to a complete stop that was noticable in the video I would contest.

Default red light ticket

I hate to say it but your better off just paying the overpriced ticket.

First its probably not worth it financially taking off work to fight a $100 ticket. Then the appeal process is ridiculous the percentage of people who get theirs reversed is extremely low. And if you lose I belive you generally have to pay more than if you just paid the ticket.

It's all about revenue not safety, one light in the wburbs brought in $500,000 last year and the accidents went from 7 to 6. Cities need to admit its all about the revenue and they are just knickle and diming people.

Some are starting to go away. Schaumburg got rid of theirs because people were going to stop shopping at woodfield.

***NEWSFLASH***

Not all intersections allow you to turn right on RED.

What intersection was it?

Almost all of these cases are due not to the right turn itself, but not coming to a complete stop. If you do a rolling turn, you WILL get a fine (I should know). Watch the video...if your car is FULLY stopped at the light for 3 seconds and then you proceed, you might have a chance. But like I said, most people do not do that.

Here's a question then: I've perused the IL Driver's Manual, various legal forms and such, and cannot find an official description of a "Complete Stop." Many moons ago when I was in driver's ed, I remember a complete stop being described to me as when the car rocks back slightly upon ceasing forward momentum. Now granted, this was in Connecticut, but I see the godforsaken cameras flashing at cars all the time and want to know how to stay legal here.

Very few people I know of have ever had luck getting those tickets reversed. I hate those scam cams.
