Hey! lookin for a little help if possible. my girlfriend and i are moving to charlotte here in a couple months. we are looking at a number of homes for rent in a number of locations. I wanted to see if there were any areas or towns around charlotte that i should leave out of my search. a lot of homes ive found seem to be around UNCC. any advice would be much appreciated. (if it helps, we are looking at homes in the $800 - $1000/month range)
Real excited about the move
Thanks!
the uncc area or as we call it unniversity area has sketchy parts and good parts If you find a certain community we might have knowledge of it so feel free to ask in this forum if you find certain ones you like. For instance you know certain streets it off of or a subdivision.
Also try charlotte meck police department website for the crime map. I have had mix results with meaning lol sometimes it doesnt find the address. here is the link http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/CMPD/Prevent+Crime/Crime+Mapping.htm (broken link)
thanks sunny, looking into a place off mallard creek road (and in between W Sugar Creek Rd and 24/W WT Harris) any idea what kind of area that is?
That area is not that bad, but it's not that great. The appreciation values are not as great as you would want. The further toward Sugar Creek you get, the more "sketchy" the areas that border the neighborhoods are (even though a lot of those neighborhoods are newer). I would suggest crossing Harris Blvd and looking on the other side of Mallard Creek and on the Prosperity Church Road area.

Can't really answer that sorry. Someone else probably will chime in. There are some nice homes all over Charlotte you need to make sure you do your research and such
Well, I'll be PC and just say that the crime rates are higher, it is not safe, and you should stay away if you can.
It is sad because a decade and a half ago, the Hickory Grove Rd area, Albemarle Rd area, etc were not bad. Mostly families, not much crime. Then in the late 90s it just got terrible. I remember in 90-95 or so, one could go to Eastland Mall (I did with my high school friends) and feel totally safe, ice skate, eat, etc. Now I won't step within 10 miles of that place and the city wants to tear it down. So sad.
