With all respect, "ghetto" is a useless and vague word. I'm assuming you mean high-crime, and that this is your primary concern. To reiterate what other people have said on this thread, take a look at crime maps. As Sunny mentioned, there are a lot of transitioning neighborhoods in Charlotte. Although they are getting better, you might find that the stigma of their past causes a lot of people to claim that these areas are still dangerous - for this reason, I'd rely on using crime maps and (if you can) exploring the city before you decide on a location.
I know it can be tough figuring out the safest parts of a city when you're just starting to learn about it. If you have specific worries and/or priorities about where you'd like to live, ask them on here. The more specific you can be, the more useful the responses. I wish you a lot of luck!
Hmm. The phrase "ghetto area" where ghetto is an adjective could have a huge number of meanings (depending upon the party using it) vs the noun "ghetto".
i.e Does Charlotte have ghetto areas? Instead of Does Charlotte have the ghettos? It's not possible to answer the former without further information.
