I'd like to start this thread for people who live in Cureton. I just bought there in October and live in NY so am just flying back and forth right now setting things up, etc. Wanted to see who else is out there in CD land and lives in Cureton too !!!

Used to live around the corner in Marvin. Nice area. When they get the caps on the sewer plant it will be a whole lot nicer! Summer can be brutal over there with the stench. Also...when Providence Road widening is finished it will be sweet...even though it doesn't come all the way down to you.

Politically speaking...alot of issues in Union County, but you are from NY so you are probably used to it! The socialist majority on the county commission are quickly setting the stage for their overthrow, so hopefully it will be better...so long as the former crooks don't win control again. One of these days some good people are going to get elected....has to happen eventually!!!

Welcome to NC...and remember one thing. This ain't NY and we don't want to be. :-) Just that some of the folks who flea NY end up trying to recreate it here, and that is leading us to a place none of us want to go!

Hello,

We are former New yorkers....Long Island NY that is... We love it here, miss some of the ethnic foods... But not much of anything else.

Good Luck, you will love it. The odor isnt that bad. Everyone here is very spoiled!!!

Ps. Don't believe everything you hear about New Yorkers!!!
The New Yorkers you are talking about wouldnt move down this way.
Thats a good thing.

Thanks for the posts everbody. Now at least I feel connected with all of you. I tell you the truth, I know some people want to come down and change things..but I'm not one of them. I like things just fine, as far as I can see right now. The people are just great. I mean, friendly, family oriented, values. It is so nice to be with people that are just good down home people who love their country and believe in traditions. I can't wait until we are fortunate enough to move there permanantly, but until then, I will have to settle on posting here on CD and keeping in touch with what's going on down there.

Dave

I'm with you Dave! We left NY and came here for what it is- not for what we want it to be. I don't want to change things.

So who's going to be at the March 25th not-really-a-HOA Meeting?

I wish I could be there for the HOA meeting, but I'll be there in spirit for sure. I spoke to my next door neighbor who was there for the last one and he said it wasn't anything to write home about. I guess none of them really are. Has anybody done any changes to their homes that required them to get it reviewed by the board?? I was wondering how the experience was. We were thinking about changing out the outdoor lights and was wondering if this was something that we had to submit for review??

Any thoughts??

I've seen a handful of people with pergolas in their yards, and we were thinking of getting one, too. Did the folks who have one need the HOA's ok?
