Well, if your choice was Charlotte or St. Louis, then, my guess would be that you are in securities...yes, wait a bit and see if we buy Morgan Stanley...

MS merger would be good (for financial turmoil) , although I suspect that means overlap and job losses. So I hope it goes well. The Institutional Bank that I work here has gotten taken over as well. So we are holding our breath.

No idea about St. Louis - no research on that part of US and I don't know if I would want to work there. I have a couple of friends in Charlotte so I know what to expect.

I think it's been a hard year for the Financial Sector. So may be this is a signal that I should just wait for 2009. However, other side of the coin is - I may not get the opportunity!

St Louis (just so you know) is a midwestern city, gritty, cold winters with a lot of snow and a whole different culture and way of life than Charlotte. Not necessarily better, just different. You would need to research midwesterners first...we are a hardy bunch, say what we mean, mean what we say. Hard workers, love our baseball (like you love your football) and are just a lot more down to earth than other places. I think that St. Louis, itself, was founded by the French (hence the name) but has large populations of Germans & Polish if I remember right. haven't been there in a very long time.

But, you are right. This may not be the right time to move across the world for a financial sector job. I would just wait until 2009 and see what that brings...

Thanks for the message. Just have been in talks with another potential employer (through contacts) in NYC and even they mention they are happy to look at it around xmas i.e. into 2009. I think everyone is just wanting to get rid of 2008

I am sure 2009 will be just as difficult but I also think the most of the bad news may be well and truely out - some pockets here and there would come out in 2009.

Yeah - No research on St. Louis so thanks for your message. I think just need to put head down work hard and work on these contacts.

I definitely want to work there for atleast 3-4 years so ......

Thanks again....

P.S : I love my rugby!!!
