I am looking to rent a room in Charlotte (or a suburb) for a few months until I get settled and find a house to rent/buy. Anyone have neighborhood suggestions...I'm looking for:

1. Safety (at least somewhere where if I come home after dark I won't have to fear for my life...most of the time) )
2. Prefer the non-twenties/non-college kid crowd (I'm near 40)
3. Quiet, boring, but safe. )
4. Nice folks. )

I'm willing to pay upto 1000 to rent a room/so hopefully that opens things up quite a bit.

Would consider a suburb of Charlotte. I have an online business which I have decided to continue, so commute is irrelavent (thank goodness).

I see ads on craigslist but need a little guidance as to what to either go for or stay away from. )

In Charlotte Realtors break down areas by area maps....Imagine Charlotte like a spiderweb....that being said, area 7 (Southwest Charlotte) has some nice rental homes in the $1000.00 range. There are nice apartment rentals throughout Charlotte, many people prefer S Charlotte for shopping etc. it is a little more established, but quite a bit more expensive as well.

If you provide subdivisions and areas there are tons of folks on here who will give you an objective opinion about the area in question.
