I'm thinking of making the big move to North Carolina. I've been contemplating this for years. I really like the Charlotte area (I have relatives in Waxhaw), so I visit the area at least once a year. Due to my profession, I'll probably work closer to downtown or more metropolitan areas. I don't mind commuting (30 mins, max) but I would like to know what are the average rental prices around that area. If someone can message me links, I'll take that, too. Please give honest opinions about the neighborhoods. I don't have children but I'm perfectly fine with suburbs and quiet areas. I currently live in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla which is quite suburban.
I would recommend going to the apartments section of the Charlotte craigslist and scanning the rental rates. Of course you're going to be looking at places in both the city and the suburbs, and in both the safe and unsafe parts of town, but that will give you an idea of the range of rents in the area.
