Let's wait for the other districts to report before judging - The testing standards were purportedly raised.

What a crock - it always comes back to "we need more resources."

The reason the scores are lower is b/c students are not serious about learning.

Amazing how we used to teach kids in a one room school house and they got solid educations. Now, we can't seem to manage without a long list of "resources."

Here's the magic solution: Kids who give a flip about LEARNING

Here's info on Concord - though not as detailed, it does mention the higher standards. I would bet every county in the state has disappointing results overall.

One year, the diminishing resources didn't matter. Next year, the diminishing resources are the reason for lowered scores.

I mean no disrespect when I say this but, I don't care about other districts. This is all another ploy to get more "resources" from the community. And it's a crock!

They more they need the worse it gets.....they need to stop playing schoolhouse and get back to teaching these kids. If the children don't want to learn remove them from the classroom and place them in an equivalent of an ISS room. But the feel good & all things are accepted mentality must stop! There is no place for it and it is not doing a soul any good.

I think that Cleveland County did worse, but 51% of schools passed. The 3 elementaries in town, in Kings Mountain, passed, as did the high school. Bethware Elementary, which is out in the township failed, as did the intermediate & middle schools.

The Shelby Star hasn't posted a story on it yet, so I got the information from the school district's website. http://www.clevelandcountyschools.or...-for-2010-2011

I do not agree that this is just a ploy - The No child Left Behind law REQUIRES that they report this info yearly - in every state and every district.
