Does anyone know anywhere in the Charlotte area that pays by the pound for plastic. Mainly soda bottles. Thanks.

You can take metal to scrap yards, but plastic, I have no clue for that.

I've never heard of a place that takes plastics that's open to the public, probably because due to them being so light weight you'd have to have so much to get enough to pay for your gas. . . if your town has a recycling program, just donate them.

Kramer and Newman figured out the solution long ago. You need to find a half filled mail truck that is driving to Michigan or one of the other states that offer a nickel or dime per bottle.

You'll load all your bottles into the truck and let them ride for free to the destination of your choice!

I can't tell you how glass & plastic are handled in NC, but in NJ the municipality has contracts for glass & contracts for plastic. The glass & the plastics end up at a manufacturer which melts it (either glass or plastic, whatever the place manufactures) down & then blend in some raw material. I have never seen anyplace that takes glass or plastic from an individual.

What's next? Newspaper & cardboard?
