no rental company that I am aware and kayaks are not allowed on Lake Norman but are allowed on Mount Island Lake .

Actually, if you are a YMCA member, you can rent kayaks from the Lake Norman branch in Cornelius: http://www.ymcacharlotte.org/lakenor...aterfront.aspx

Is there somewhere that says kayaking is prohibited? I cant find anything.
