we have a pediatrician in Huntersville by Birkdale Village...no shortage of doctors within 15 min. Specialists may be downtown, but still only 25-30 min drive. Exit 23 has a big Presby Hospital where we delivered a child and it was as quiet as a church, but high tech. Exit 33 also has a big Hospital by the Lowe's HQ. We only go to the city for Costco & Trader Joe's...everything else is w/in 15 minutes.

P.S. the only thing about the Peninsula that stinks is the high HOA. You'll find many neighborhoods in the H-ville area that have homes 300-550k range (Hamptons, Birkdales, Macaulay, Northstone) and most have $500 annual including pool. With the Peninsula (and Point as well, i think), it's $1200/yr and no pool (you have to join Peninsula Club or Pen Yacht Club). As you'll see driving into the neighborhood down Jetton road, the $1200 goes mostly to landscaping (it's like driving into a resort)....and you just missed the firework show which is one of the largest on the lake. In retrospect to what we were paying in Chicago, even $100/mo. is not a big deal. From a real estate standpoint, they say you never want to have the most expensive house in the neighborhood as well. Lots to consider, good luck! We rented for 2 months to get a feel for the area and wait for new homes to go on the market.

I agree with you about renting. Where did you rent? Where did you end up? I am from Chicago. One brother lives in Park Ridge and the other in Wrigleyville. We loved walking to breakfast in the morning and it seems there was a park on every other corner.

we were in wrigleyville/roscoe village/southport area for 10 yrs. We rented at Redcliff behind Birkdale Village for 2-3 months. Very nice. Ended up in the Peninsula by the yacht club (walking to 2 parks & can bike to Jetton park). Tons of other parks...my wife does the rotation during the week with the kids...there are turf parks if the ground is wet, shady parks if it's too sunny, sunny parks if it's cool...somewhat laughable.

Hello - we are moving to Mooresville the first week of August from MA. My husband has actually been there since January starting a business, and fortunately my boss has agreed to let me work remotely. We found a rental on Brawley School Rd in MV which is on the lake, right after The Point. It was fully furnished with everything - so we will stay there until we have had the opportunity to explore neighborhoods etc. I've found some of the comments above interesting and may even widen our horizons beyond Mooresville. I visited in April and didn't see enough to make a decision however I do remember getting stuck in Brawley traffic alot. I hope that has improved since then! Lovemy4kids - I have a daughter age 10, who is nervous about making new friends. How are your kids doing with this?
