Well, it looks like AT&T lost out on the merger with T-Mobile. I guess this means the same crappy service will continue from AT&T, as you well know they were DEPENDING on the T-Mobile towers to expand their lousy infrastructure.

I feel sorry for the T-Mobile customers. They have been getting jerked around alot, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.

Study Shows AT&T LTE is Faster Than Verizon LTE

Metrico conducted a series of controlled tests on both networks, and the results were somewhat surprising. Using the HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket on AT&T’s network and the HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung DROID Charge and Motorola DROID BIONIC on Verizon’s, the firm determined that the mean download speed on Verizon’s network was 10,153Kbps while AT&T’s network was 30% faster at 13,775Kbps.

AT&T’s LTE network launched just recently and traffic at this point certainly pales in comparison to traffic across Verizon’s LTE network, which has been marketed heavily for over a year. As we’ve seen, however, increased traffic on Verizon’s 4G network has yet to result in any significant slowdown. By design, LTE is much better equipped to handle heavy traffic loads, so the continuous impressive speeds exhibited by Verizon’s network shouldn’t be surprising. In this context, AT&T’s 30% edge in download speed could represent a continued advantage; AT&T’s wireless data speeds have been significantly faster that Verizon’s for years, but it was thought that LTE adoption by both carriers would level the playing field.

Pretty worthless study unless/until AT&T's network is even remotely comparable to Verizon's LTE coverage area. Verizon already has 185 million Americans covered with LTE and will have the entire country covered by the end of 2013.

It's not worthless. It shows that AT&T average LTE speeds are faster than Verizon average LTE speeds. By the end of 2011, AT&T will have 70 million Americans covered, and by the end of 2013, both carriers will have LTE coverage across their existing 3G footprint.

It's not relevant to compare a network in it's infancy to a mature LTE network. If you can't understand why than you probably didn't do well in science. This "study" is nothing more than click bait.

Since LTE is designed to handle 3x the cell capacity of traditional 3G networks, Verizon has not experienced any significant slowdown year-over-year. Thus, it is safe and fair to compare speeds. There will continue to be independent studies that measure network performance, as they have in the past. More to the point, what is relevant is how the networks are performing; this study shows just that.

There actually have been a bunch of anecdotal reports by Verizon customers that LTE network slowing down as the subscriber base increased in a particular markets. This "study" also doesn't control for the newer LTE phones available on AT&T's network which generally test quicker on speed tests. So like I said before this "study" is incredibly flawed and unscientific.
