Portia, my little queen, November 2014. As-shot, cropped, via brand-new Fujifilm X100T, "Classic Chrome" filter. No flash because it pretty obviously irritates pets in dim light. Exercising a bit of creativity in the camera settings lets me catch more-interesting candid portraits, I've found.

This is the neighbor's cat Thor. That name doesn't befit him at all. Although he shows curiosity in things and likes affection, he doesn't bite, lick, scratch things, or meow that much. He's so well-behaved and has a real calm demeanor for a cat. This is from before winter. Sometimes we crack a door open and him and his brother just stroll right in like they own the place. They are both indoor/outdoor cats. His brother is more of a hunter, but with this one I think you could turn him into an indoor cat without missing a beat.
Love the expression on Thor's face! It's as though he's thinking, "If you didn't bring food or a toy, then hit the road!"

Hmm, that's interesting. I read his body language as if he's posing for a good self-portrait or close-up. In the instance of the photo, he's just chillin' as he normally does. That's the thing about these guys. They are chill as can be; they aren't aloof. I had him in for almost three hours, which I thought was too long. I was worried he would try to pee somewhere or something. I also make sure not to feed them. All Thor wanted to do was hang out the whole time. Finally, I had to scoop him up and put him outside. I'm thinking, "Look bud, you gotta go." But he didn't want to leave and came back and tried to rub on my leg.
Both of them are now in for the winter, so I won't be seeing them for awhile.
