What a laugh.

California is a donor state when it comes to Federal Taxes. Know what that means?

It means that California sends $290 Billion to DC in taxes BUT we only get back $240 Billion in spending.

THAT MEANS THAT 50 BILLION OF OUR DOLLARS IS SPENT MAKING VIRGINIA, MARYLAND and A BUNCH OF MOOCHER RED STATES RICHER WHILE WE ARE LEFT TO FIND 50 BILLION DOLLARS ELSEWHERE.

Damn anyone who dare tell us that DC is going to bail CA out!

AS IF.

ITS OUR MTHFKNG MONEY TO BEGIN WITH!
Why is it OK for Sacramento to take and waste taxpayer money, but not Washington? You seem to think that Sacramento has some claim on the money citizens pay to the Federal government. It's not Sacramento's money either. Sacramento spends more money than it takes in, pure and simple. Giving less money to Washington isn't going to change that unless you propose Sacramento raise taxes by an equal amount. Oh wait, that's what they're already trying to do.

Why doesnt California KEEP ITS FEDERAL TAXES the next fiscal year. Let DC make due without our $290 Billion. Such a huge amount would wipe out our deficit in one foul swoop.

In fact it seems once we get down to the meat of the issue, the root of our problem is DC. Not Sacramento.
It is almost like the taxpayers getting to actually keep a little more of their money too. Great idea

That's silly & would only encourage desperate attempts by people who can not afford to gamble.

My concern is that President Obama has told California "NO" What's that about? Great articles\editorials in LA Times making it clear to the federal government that assistance is not debatable. California sends more to DC than it ever gets back. Also Obama was heavily financed\ strongly supported by California. Both senators\ speaker of the house\ governor & all democratic congress people have requested government guarantees on loans to California. Sadly our Republican congress folk from California will not ask for help but are actually lobbying to stop any assistance? Doesn't that sound like voting against their own people?

Huh? Whats silly about it ? Desperate attempts such as? Those are just assumptions on your part. Gambling is legal in several states and hell hasn't frozen over.

Isn't that why they're republicans, cuz they're against too much government? Do we really want to be beholding to the federal government and all that implies?

That's a classic Republican response unless it directly applies to you personally. Less teachers for children\ release of over 40,000 convicts\ less cops-firemen\women\ no infra-structure\ serious consequences to the economy. How do Republican's sleep at night?

Texas Republicans put aside their differences with Texan Dems to push for maximum federal pork for Texas.

These cuts are scare tactics and may have to be cut some. But there is sooooo much other waste than the essentuals. If we actually knew everything that the state spent money on we would be enlightened. If they start with unneccessary junk (which the election is going to force them to do) they'll be amazed at what a million here and a million there may add up to. After the election I've read where the governor and some of the legislature have said that now they will have to get down and dirty and work on the budget. Hello isn't that what they should of been doing to begin with? Then they could of saved the millions on the election. But no they want to take the easy way out and see if they squeeze it out of the taxpayer! oh and maybe I should of worded it Shouldn't republicans be for less government because they have wandered away
