Do you have any thoughts on these towns or any others on safety, affordability, homes $350k or less, schools and jobs in loan finance, new construction, etc? on the towns/areas listed? Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Agoura Hills,Auburn, Placerville, Westlake Village, Eureka, Newcastle, Roseville, Rocklin, Penryn, Loomis, Folsom, Citrus Hieghts, Buellton, Carpenteria, Newcastle, Temecula, Ventura? I will be looking for a job and really want to find a nice place to live. Myself and 1 middle school child. Prefer less traffic and smaller town due to costs and stress levels!

How did you arrive with that list of cities?

First find a job.
If you find a job in more than one location, then repost with the locations, otherwise people will post on the pros and cons of each town forever.

Going by your Nom de Cyber, Eureka is NOT sunny.

Regarding a job in your field... good luck. Tens of thousands of people have been laid off in those job categories.

As for the cities, you've really spread yourself all over the map, the exurbs of LA, suburbs of Sacramento, and a few places that I don't recognize. I would break up your info requests, and repost in the appropriate subfora. You have asked for so much information, people may be intimidated from responding at all.

Default Relocation Help

Our family will probably be moving to the general area of Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Newberry area due to a job relocation. I need help locating planned communities/neighborhoods. We would like an area where the kids can walk or bike to school, close to parks, shoppping, etc. We are looking for detatched, single family residence hopefully with a community pool and/or town center. Any suggestions??

Well, you're literally all over the map but for what you're looking for and given you "name," I think I'd recommend Placerville as being a good composite of those choices. My wife raised her two daughters there for a number of years and loved it.

Moving to California to find a job in construction or real estate finance is like moving to Alaska to find a job as an ice cube salesman. Unless you can line something up first don't even think about coming here. Once you find a job - and you'll have better odds in the Lotto at this point - then see what areas are around it suit your needs.
