Sounds like a good kid.

Sounds like you think your child is a special snowflake

I'm sure so long as he doesn't go to school in California and pick up any communist ideas he will come out fine.

Indeed. But that is definitely one of the reasons why current generations are all those things you described. Handed everything on a silver spoon (partially by their parents, partially by the state) and don't have a burning passion to succeed. Compared to prior generations of immigrants fleeing from poverty and oppression, or those who lived through the great depression, or WWII, etc.

I agree, and I'll do my best for my kids and their grand kids.

I eat way too much red meat to last long enough to worry about the generation after that.

I won't even get into how government policy dating back to WW2 has driven up health care costs.

I'll just stick with housing policy. Even liberal leaning media outlets admit that housing and inequality is more prevalent in blue metro areas--and it's as a result of housing policy decisions (i.e. restrictive zoning policies that keep housing from being built and/or make it unnecessarily expensive).

Blue America has a problem: Even after adjusting for income, left-leaning metros tend to have worse income inequality and less affordable housing.

Historically, progressives were seen as partisans for the people, eager to help the working and middle classes achieve upward mobility even at expense of the ultrarich. But in California, and much of the country, progressivism has morphed into a political movement that, more often than not, effectively squelches the aspirations of the majority, in large part to serve the interests of the wealthiest.

Actually Sac. has a decent job market, but rents and home prices have gone up a lot. Not as much as SD, but getting there.

I think you came to the correct conclusion. Many of the policies that purportedly exist to help the working and middle classes in CA do the exact opposite of what they say they do.

Sometimes your best option is to cut loose when you're young. It's much easier to move out of state when young than when you're older.

I can agree with you about the unfairness of it all, but that doesn't get you anywhere.

Actually, there is even a larger issue at play. It's all about eroding the sovereignty of nation states. When every country looks and feels like every other country, people will be more open to global government. That is the end game. Of course, they'll tell us it'll be a democracy (and unfortunately, people will believe it--or at least accept it). Same thing is happening in Europe as in America. It's definitely not an accident.

Why Vegas? Much easier to get a sex change and marry a Congressman in Illinois.

A house wife gets up to 20k a month! Wow, maybe moving to a red states to be a house wife is a good option for you?

In other words, both parties are bad as this type of thing is not limited to one party.
