I like Boulder. I have a big group of very active single M and F friends in the 40-60 yo range (many never married and no kids), and it's a great community if overly self-righteous at times. There are lots of women in your age range biking, skiing, climbing, kayaking, and running. There are no unsafe or dangerous neighborhoods, only unbearably noisy ones. I didn't have a car for the first 7 years in Boulder and it was fine. As long as you don't want to buy a house on a limited income, I'd consider it.
