God, I'm glad I moved. Aren't the responses just too funny? LOL LOL LOL LOL. Boulder is full of characters who aren't down to earth enough to give the OP an honest answer.

That sounds about right from what I know.

For 26 weeks I was indeed. I milked my $1664 dollar, big brother trust fund dry!

Thanks for being so specific! I really appreciate this. I calculated that I make $9.28 less than this so I will not be moving to Boulder. As far as trustsfarians I say "Social parasites of the world, unite!"

$3000 a month? In my fantasy. I live very comfortably in Boulder on well under a grand a month, and that's spending $350/mo. on food. $475 (with utils) for a place by Table Mesa, nothing on gas (Prius, drive it once every few weeks), and $50 for car insurance. That's $875 a month, plus some money for a show once in a while. If I made three times that I'd faint. What on earth are you guys spending your money on?

That seems like quite the deal on rent. You don't pay a car payment on that Prius? Good for you if so. What about savings? To me, living comfortably also means you also make enough to save. And pay for entertainment too, whether a movie or a weekend of skiing. No cable, satellite or internet access, or are those included in the rent?

Exactly..I think Mike From Back East is way more in line with the minimum Boulder budget. If you want anything decent in Boulder IMO you are talking a minimum of 1k in rent..anything less means student ghetto or having three roommates in the outskirts of town. Keep in mind, many of the CU students alone have more disposable income than the average person in Colorado. Sure you can get by on less but it's kind of like living in LA on Ramen noodles.

People need money for "goodies"...like whatever device you are using to post on city-data!! Internet maybe...Of course you could be at a wifi cafe (at least splurging for a cup of coffee?) Phone bill, a clean pair of pants every so often, etc. I don't know how anyone can live on that per month and drive a Prius with no insurance! Maybe it's someone elses. Cheap rent too!!Wow!!

Most of my friends live on 1500 a month, roughly. They are able to hang out with me at the bars, eat sushi once or twice a week (coupons! Specials! etc), and generally live well.

My best friend lives in the heart of it all downtown in a safe, well-lit, clean studio for 800 a month including utilities. There is no ghetto in Boulder (literally), so I don't know what someone above was referring to. There are apartment complexes that are gross to be sure, and living near the hill= loud students. But there are very safe, clean spots all over the city for very affordable prices.

Almost everyone I know bikes to work and keeps around an old Honda/Subaru for trips to the airport, etc. As well, the natural food store competition leads to some unbelievably cheap organic produce all over the city. I picked up some local organic pears for .89 cents a pound today, for example.

Living in Boulder on a budget is very, very easy if you're not above clipping coupons, driving an older car, and walking/biking whenever possible. I'm certainly glad I no longer live on such a budget, but it's not a big deal.

When I was in the process of moving here I read this forum. I assumed I'd be homeless in like 2 months, hah. I respect financial caution and honest advice, but 3K a month? Either you folks have high standards or I have low ones.
