My husband is working in the Boulder area now. When our house sells, we will be joining. We are moving from Iowa so looking for a decent size house 2000+ sq ft as we have 3 boys. Our price range is between 250k-350k. WE have been thinking of Erie, Broomfield.... Any recommendations for a home of this size or larger with a commute time of 30 mins or less?

Thanks for your help!

I would check out Longmont. SW Longmont is a close commute down the Diagonal to Boulder and will get you a good price/sq foot.

Lisa,
How would SW Longmont compare to Broofield, Erie as far as family life? My kids are 7,4, and 11 months.
Thanks in advance!

Gunbarrel Real Estate | Gunbarrel Homes for Sale in Boulder County, Colorado Gunbarrel is a nice family community in Boulder that you might like. The commute to downtown Boulder is 15 min.

My husband did the commute from s.w. Longmont (where we still are) to Boulder for years.

It's a fantastic place to raise kids. I can't tell you how it compares though. I know when we first moved here, we checked out Erie and it wasn't for me. But that's just me.

Erie and Broomfield are both very family oriented as well. You'd be at the far end of your commute time in parts of Broomfield. I like it b/c it's also a bit closer to Denver.

I think it's pretty similar. SW Longmont has a lot of fairly new housing with families and is close to shopping. I'm not too familiar with schools but I know people who have kids and live in all 3 communities. I work in Gunbarrel which is about 1/2 way between Boulder and Longmont and a lot of my co-workers with kids live there. Longmont has a nice rec center on the South end of town and lots of parks and rec activities for kids. It is in the St. Vrain school district.

Of the three, Longmont is the furthest from Denver. It's still close to i-25, but further north. Broomfield is the most integrated into Denver metro. Erie's rapid development is more recent. Of the three, it's the most like a bedroom community.

GO SOUTH!!! Low taxes, high wages, cheap houses. Forget the midwest and mountain states with their high taxes and deep snow. Come to the America of the future!~ BTW you will get a tract house for that in Boulder...in Houston or Atlanta where I live you could have a grand home for the same amount.
Signed reformed Denver Native who now water ski's////

But you'd have to live in Texas, and outside of Austin, you'd have to fight upstream to maintain sanity. Thomas Jefferson? Never heard of him....:_)

Yeah! Where were we? .....from what we've seen and heard, I'd agree with others that in Longmont or Broomfield you should be able to find a home in your price range, and still be in range of Boulder.
