A Black candidate must contend with this type of thought process which would make acknowledgments of the black community's needs a death knell. BigFatDude doesn't want care as much about whites as black the reality he would like caring only about whites. This irrational sort of comment is based on the idea that if blacks gain more, whites must have less as a result.
I was thinking along those lines too. lol
BFD and I didn't always agree on everything but he spices things up a bit, and that's not a bad thing!

Problem is, whites typically vote in their own self-interest while quite a few blacks often vote to their own detriment in their desire to stick it to the whitie, just look at some of the recent events.

Not enough blacks at Boston's exam schools? Sure, there are many things we could do to improve test scores so more black students could get in but no, let's get rid of the exam and turn them all into English High! No elite exam schools for whitie, never mind the fact we just deprived our own students of quality education.

New construction too expensive for blacks (and vast majority of whites, for that matter, but we won't mention that)? Sure, we could get rid of some of the things that are making new construction astronomically expensive which would ensure construction projects in cheaper neighborhoods are economically viable but no, no new construction, period! No new construction for whitie, never mind the fact we'll get gentrified out by those same whities who will offer our landlords a lot more than we can afford.

Etc, etc, etc...

Do you expect those you refer to as "animals, savages and neanderthals" to care about you? Or would it make more sense for them to do what's in their own interest and not give a rat's ass about you and anyone else with a similar set of beliefs?

Now, it goes without saying it is difficult for some of the black candidates to get white votes but that's because many of them resemble you a lot more than they resemble Obama. That pain, my friend, is mostly self-inflicted. And that's coming from someone who voted for Obama. Twice.

This is a factor. Walsh/Connelly had a Dorchester/Roxbury/Mattapan/Hyde park pro Walsh and Allston-Brighton /Back Bay/Central Boston/West Roxbury coalitions despite two Irish Catholics running.

Although a Black Walsh candidate may have lost on account of South Boston, although they probably would have done better in Roxbury

I think mostly the result of hard left programming and fear mongering which has resulted in feeling dependent on them. This was a similar phenomenon with Irish pols who courted the Irish, but not nearly to the same degree, and the welfare programs they were generally handing out were jobs not empty promises. I don't fault black Mayoral candidates for courting other blacks and the interests of black working and middle classes. I do believe some would have better results if they did it in way that didn't alienate similarly situated and potential allied whites, and which also focused attention on quality of life as well as policies which support business and institutions, but also holding them accountable to the interests of residents.

It's not all down to the but yeah there's different eayvsof politicking for everyone of every different race/creed in Boston. Obviously with 70% of Asians polling for Wu, and what we saw with the Cape Verdean precincts all voting uniformly for Barros. This is still an intensely tribal city.

At the end of the day Black folks needed to come out and vote like the folks in Neponset, if that happened its be a different final. I cannot and people should not solely “blame” white Boston. That's not realistic. But that's not to say it's not a factor.

If many of us wanted this then it should have been a Georgia-like effort to make that known and come out. This really was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I wish we had our elections held concurrently with presidential elections.

Ultimately I look forward to a’ Wu Boston’

Why did so many Asians vote for Wu? Just because she happens to be Asian too?

70% polled for her idk the final numbers but I know 50% of greater Chinatown went for Wu, she basically perfectly Split Fields Corner with Janey ...its safe to say her being Asian had something to do with it.
