70% as of 2020, Boston isn't as impactful as you'd imagine... there's only 363k minorities there. Another 1.25M live in the MSA.

But the MSA demographic thing that argument doesn't hold water when you look at the perception of many midwestern/rust belt cities that are also around 40-50% white but have whiter MSAs than Boston such as St. Louis, Kansas City, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, or Buffalo...

Yeah I really mean greater Eastern New England. Similar to how people perception of Boston winters is more like what Fitchburg or Manchester winters are actually like. “Boston winters” and “New England winters” broadly are not the same. And I feel like Boston’s perception is a big Portland rather than a Small NYC when it’s much more the latter.

Definitely not south of LBI. South of LBI is stereotypically Philly.

North of LBI? Its Jersey. Not NYC.

Jersey Shore is way too big and spans literally two different MSAs so you cant judge it in one shot. Seaside and Asbury Park are nothing like Wildwood and Ocean City, given they are equivalents of eachother.

LBI is the middle barrier island on the shore, it's extremely popular here. Its like 25 miles long and it has a lot of summer retreat homes on towns like Beach Haven, Surfside Beach, and Long Island. Its a very quaint but oddly fun place to go. Its super popular for people from NYC / NNJ, CT and Philly to go to for the weekends or a week.
