Let's push in to Titusville or "Convenient Slum" on the Judgemental Map.

The new facility would house the three entities of the GBHS: the adoption and education center, the animal care and control division and the Alabama shelter veterinarians. All three facilities are currently located at different areas throughout Birmingham.

Officials with the GBHS previously said the new campus will be as much a community gathering spot as it is a humane society...

I don't guess the city council would oppose this.

Yeah I've been waiting for something on that site for a long time. Seemed like an obvious place for UAB to expand to. I also thought it would be cool for it to be a district for some sort of progressive technology/green jobs/urban farm type thing. A humane facility that mostly reshuffles what we already have is better than nothing though. Still feels like 2nd Ave South should be connected to Golden Flake Drive over there for better flow and connected bones.

I wonder what will become of the facilities that will be vacated...

The Alabama Auto Show finishes up today and it is back at full strength with all brands that you can buy new in the city represented. No one sat out. Plus it was the only "showroom" in the southeast where you could see one of these. Upside down...apparently.

I was there today, scoping out the Mercedes Maybach at a cool $200K. Chump change.

Yeah I liked that one too. The old Maybachs were just too much money. Glad they brought out this budget model.

The Birmingham Barons continue to lead the league in attendance. They are already recording sellouts, and the season just started.

Nice crowd. Remember when they said it would be a mistake for the Barons to leave Hoover... and then when the first season at Regions Field set records that it was just a fluke and wouldn't last?

Yeah...

Yeah...
Was there last night with out of town family. They couldn't believe the changes in Birmingham. They've also expanded the drinking area of Good People to the sidewalk as well. That being said, I think that entire street, when blocked off, should be considered to be an area where you tote your beer around.

When they first started talking about open container districts I cant remember if Parkside was one of the places...they did it for Uptown and at least talked about it for Lakeview and 5pts...South. Maybe Parkside reps are pushing for it as well.
