^Daniel is capable of just about anything I think^ Hopefully when the time comes for a new tower, it would be fitting for them to be the developers of it.

The Thomas Jefferson Tower Facebook page says that the mooring mast lighting will happen soon. Doesn't give an exact date, but this is very exciting news. Can't wait to see it all lit up!

Below is an article about how they plan to light the last rooftop mooring mast in the world.

Park rangers could begin tours of Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument in a few months | AL.com

Quote:
Bell said he expects the number of visitors to the Civil Rights District to double, if not triple, in the coming years.

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute now sees 144,000 visitors annually.
I hope this draws a new hotel or two announcement for downtown as an almost immediate effect.

I didn't even think about the possibility of hotels as a result of the designation. They were already planning for a couple hotels in Uptown. Maybe this National Monument designation will help bring those to fruition. Im pretty sure developers are about to become very interested in the Civil Rights District. Would be cool to see some new residential developments in that particular section of downtown.
