I am new to this forum and like quite a few other folks have been thinking about relocating to Oregon. From what I have read Bend is the way to go but I am concered about the job market and the winter. I was told that Construction has been hit the hardest but what about Administrative work in the Medical Field or Admin work in general?
As for the weather I currently live outside of Austin, TX and our winters are usually wet and cold. I can handle temps in the 20-30's not sure about anything lower. I also hate humidity. Would I have to deal with icy road conditions and about how much snow? Also, I don't want to live someplace where it rains constantly and I have heard it rains quite a bit in Portland.
Also, I am in my late 20's if this makes a difference on where in Oregon I should go.

Your biggest concen should be employment. All areas have been hit hard and it probably hasn't bottomed out yet. Unemployment is well into the double digits.

Weather will be OK. There'll be ice and snow but it's not too bad. Not much humidity and less rain then west of the cascades. Winter temps below 20 are not that common. It's an easy climate to get used to.

The only hospital in town is St. Charles and it does seem they are still hiring, although I'm sure they get hundreds of applicants for each position. Your best bet would be to get on their website and fill out an application. You can also look into Bend Medical Clinic (BMC) and see what they may have. The climate is definitely different than Austin, but if you don't like the weather there, you may like it here.

You can do a search of this forum by going to the upper right corner of the page and click on the "search" button. Search Bend weather to get a ton of information already written about our weather. Good luck!
