The ***** Galore was a short lived but legendary F-105D marking. Originally conceived as a joke on KC-135 tanker crews who had trouble hooking up their fueling booms, it became a welcome morale booster for tanker crews. The original ***** Galore was painted over and later shot down in 1967. The ***** Galore II marking was used between Oct 1966 and Dec 1966 by Capt. Victor Vizcarra till an uptight USAF senior officer decided that putting naked women markings on his unit aircraft was a no-no

LoL. I am work with two retired air force airmen, neither were boom operators.

Put hair around that hole and they won't miss.

Wow. The Tri-Star. What an enigmatic airplane. I heard they were the biggest gas guzzler in the air.

The 747 is the plane everyone seems to love. The 767 is a nice place, especially in the "400" series, a rarity. Almost looks as long as a 777. I'll take the seating config. in the '67 to the '77 any day.

The 767-400 is truly a underrated and remarkable aircraft. I'll take the 764 over the 777.

My personal favorite is still the 757.

It's sad that so few 767-400s were ordered. I know it's because of the timing and overlap with the B777. I am not a fan of the B777 and never have been.

"Breaths there a man with soul so dead, who never in his heart has said, 'I want Cub, that's Piper bred.'" Thus, the lowly Piper Cub is #1... then the P-51 Mustang, followed closely by the F-86 Sabre (both of which just LOOK belligerent). But, my favorite airplane to fly is the Cessna 337 "SkyMaster" because it is SO "forgiving" and a wonderfully stable and safe aircraft .. it makes instrument approaches almost easy.

the 764, IDEALLY was supposed to replace the L-1011s and DC-10s hence why Delta and Continental stepped up to order the aircraft. Continental was supposed to get 26, but only got 16 in the end and traded the options in for IIRC, 787s. In retrospect, it was pretty stupid move because the 787 was so delayed in the end.

I flew a United 764 this past summer and it was reconfigured with the AVOD in economy. It really is a super nice aircraft. No beef with the 777 -- I like them a lot but the 764 is more of a aircraft novelty at this point.

My least favorite is the 739ER. That plane is a such a pill

I agree with your 764 comments.

Is this 739ER what COPA would fly from LAX to Panama, and Panama to Buenos Aires? If so, I didn't like it very much. I think each segment was 6 to 7 hours ... way too long to be on a B 737.

Here's a view of a jet and a carrier I am disappointed no longer comes in to Los Angeles. The Argentines were very proud to fly their jumbo (a 747-200) between LA and BA. One can tell how long ago service ceased. This is one of their initial paint schemes. The 20 story +/- LA Airport Marriott is smack in the middle of the picture in the background.

Few things were cooler when I was a kid than having a 747 pass some 200 feet above you on Sepulveda Blvd. in LA, which was right next to the north runways they often landed on.

I loved the 747 that I flew for Pan Am for a number of years as co-pilot. But I loved the Airbus A310 better because I was flying as Captain on it, and it had the glass (computerized) cockpit. It was like a sports car compared to the 747 which was more like a truck. Actually the 747 is an 18-wheeler.
