Weirdly enough, it's probably the least futuristic-looking of the V-class bombers. Behold the Victor:

B-58 Hustler

This aircraft was designed to do only on thing, to delivery a nuclear weapon to the USSR. The B-58 purpose was raw speed and it did it with engines designed in the 50's. Even today it holds numerous speed records.

My pick is the DC-3/C-47

Until a few years ago, I could still see them flying near where I live. Not bad for a plane designed in the 1930's!

They flew really slow and made a very distinctive noise very different from a turboprop or jet. I actually got to fly in one twice. It felt like I was in a WWII movie. I wish I could see one flying again. Better yet, fly in one again!

Interesting plane. I had never heard about it. It's amazing that it could actually fly!

British WW2 era Lancaster bomber

I live near the Canadian War Airplane Heritage Museum.
They have a Lancaster that regularly flies right over my house, very loud
but very cool vintage piston engine sound!

Also like the german WW2 era Me 262
The first operational jet fighter.
Very cool looking, first plane to have swept back wings.
I read there are 2 that are still flyable retrofitted with modern jet engines
replacing the not so reliable old junos.

The B-52 has been one of my favorites ever since I watched Major Kong manhandle that beauty while a couple hundred feet off the deck in Dr Strangelove.
