B58 Hustler. Pure power, sleek as an overstuffed dart.
If anything ever could, the Hustler could probably prove the speed of light could indeed be broken. For those into such things, the Hustler was shown in the movie Fail-Safe as the infamous Vindicator nuclear bomber that devastated Moscow.
Is this 739ER what COPA would fly from LAX to Panama, and Panama to Buenos Aires? If so, I didn't like it very much. I think each segment was 6 to 7 hours ... way too long to be on a B 737.
Here's a view of a jet and a carrier I am disappointed no longer comes in to Los Angeles. The Argentines were very proud to fly their jumbo (a 747-200) between LA and BA. One can tell how long ago service ceased. This is one of their initial paint schemes. The 20 story +/- LA Airport Marriott is smack in the middle of the picture in the background.
Few things were cooler when I was a kid than having a 747 pass some 200 feet above you on Sepulveda Blvd. in LA, which was right next to the north runways they often landed on.
IIRC, COPA flies the 73G on the long hauls. I flew a CO 73G on EWR-LAX in 2005. Never again. That plane is straight up uncomfortable.
I couldn't even imagine. Living near LAX for school in the mid/late 2000s the most interesting birds you'd see taking off were 777 and 744.
Back in the late 80s/early 90s you had tons of UA 747, DL 1011, TW L1011, AA DC10. It must have been heaven for you.
The 777, A340/330, old Skunkworks planes and cool 1960's planes like the XB-70. Also, anything old and British. My favorite of alltime is the VC-10. And the V-Jet Bombers? HELL YES.
I love the new CESTOL(Cruise Efficient Short Takeoff Landing) Aircraft.
The engines are on top of the wings to decrease surface noise and increase lift by causing lower pressure on top of wings as exhaust flows over them..... making them more fuel efficient.
New one piece flaps increase takeoff/landing angles allowing for shorter runways.
An aircraft that's in my top three is the Supermarine Spitfire.
Here's some photos I took on Saturday of a Mk IX version;
