Please name brands that you know for a fact are superior. I have bought at all price points with little difference.
Try Valeo wipers. Amazon and RockAuto.com sell them. Around $10-$15 each I believe.
Put them on last September and still going strong. Just wipe them down with alcohol wipes every month or so to clean them off. No streaks or clatter at all.
I buy mine when the premium brands go on sale at RockAuto.com for <$3 a set. I buy 2-3 sets for each vehicle and I go about replacing them about every 6 months. Have never had a "performance issue" since I started doing this 6-7 years ago.
I don't use the wipers that often because I keep a fresh coat of Rain-X on the window. Water starts to shear at 35mph and at 40mph it just flows away.
No issues with smearing when I do use the wipers.
