Depends on how well you want them to work, and the conditions of use. A car that does not sit in the sun, and if you don't run the wipers over dried-on bugs, or use the windshield washer jets to clean dust/bugs, if you start with a set of Bosch or similar they can go several years, if you are willing to put up with a little bit of streaking. 303 offers wipes that will revive the rubber some, these work pretty well but of course they don't do anything about roughening of the edge of the blade itself.

If you run a new set of Bosch wiper blades over some well-baked love bugs on the windshield, make a habit of doing this, you can easily ruin them in a week.

I still think it's best to just try a few different kinds of wipers over time and see which ones work the best... every wiper will work differently on your vehicle. I've never heard of a sure fire way to make a wiper last longer... just have to try a few different ones.

Here in Oregon I'm lucky to get mine to last through the rainy season. I put my current set of Bosch blades on in September and they're still working great. I will definitely be buying these again.

How long do my wipers last?

Generally until it rains...

In three years time, you will have replaced your wipers at least once.

I think Maine winters probably do about the same damage as the hot California summers. I will use them up until they annoy me. Probably about 3 months too long. Kind of like getting a haircut or cutting my nails. I may wait too long.

Please name brands that you know for a fact are superior. I have bought at all price points with little difference.

Some Bosch models are outrageously expensive. I generally like the frameless types. Soft and slinky but even they wear out early. Just had one failed inspection after a few months but that is a different story. They are actually just fine.

They don't last as long as a thread that is five years old.

It seems to help me stretch my blade life by wiping them down with a wet cloth at each fuel stop.
