My point was that the current (2006-2010) Sonata is an unoffensive-looking car. I think the 2011 is hideous.
I didnt even know that the 2011 was all new. I checked it out and while at first its styling seems "loud", I actually like it, but tend to like cars that other people find ugly. lol.

People here tell me it looks nicer in person. I need to see it in person and then I'll make my judgement. Regardless, it must be one heck of a great car to drive!
My grandparents just bought a 2008 Hyundai Sonata GLS sedan. It has 26K miles, still looks like new. They got it for $10,000 (sticker was $20,000) - so I guess thats a good deal. Its the base 4-cylinder model, but has the optional sunroof, spoiler, etc. Their 1996 Buick LeSabre conked out on them after a mechanic conked out the engine (denied it of course). A grandma/grandpa driven 1996 LeSabre with 87K miles (oil changed every 2500 miles), and one of the best engines GM made (3800) just dont start knocking for no reason.
i hope your grandparents are happy with the car. i was never a big fan of the Sonata, even the latest gen. i thought they did a good job redoing the interior for 2009, but before that it was meh, too
it is "The Buick Of Korean Cars," however. so the grandparents should be fine with it
i'm a big fan (not fanboy lol) of Hyundai cars, though. and the 2011 Sonata, at least in pics and on paper, sounds good to me
a few pro reviews have trickled in now for it, also. its getting good marks, if not perfect. but, what car is perfect?
although i do know a Moderator here recently picked a Subaru Legacy over one. to which i say good for him. can't argue with that choice, period
As I think you said, it's not the fact that there is a recall, since every carmaker has them, but rather how the recalls are handled. This is yet another reason I don't believe in buying the 1st year of a new or newly redesigned model regardless of the brand.

Good point. Even Apple, Inc.'s first generation products are somewhat flawed.

Hell, even my digital camera got recalled, but it was done responsibly and fixed.
