Anyone have experience with them? I keep hearing negative things about their reliability issues.

I looked at a 2010 Range Rover Supercharged and took one out for a drive and I quite liked and the 4WD is a plus. I'm thinking Range Rover or just be safe and get a Mercedes sedan or coupe (S-Class or CL AMG models)

Range Rovers always have had dependability issuess, they are plagued with problems even new ones. The Mercedes' aren't too much better.

If I were you, I'd look into the Lexus LX or LS460 if you want something luxurious and dependable.

My husband and I have had several Land Rovers...we have had the D-90, Range Rovers and the Discovery's....love them! The only reason we do not have one now is because we have too many kiddos to fit into the cars! Personally, we never had an issue with dependability...just snarky folks at the dealership!

You could get lucky, as some do, but Land Rover has consistently ranked at or near the bottom for years in reliability and dependability.

I second the Lexus suggestion.

I also give it 3 more posts before someone suggests a Hyundai, claiming they are "just as good for less money".

My brother had a 2002 Discovery Series II, but being that it's from the same company, I say stay away from them with a ten foot pole if you could.

Issues that I can remember: Fuel pump replaced at around ~40k miles, A/C blower having intermittent problems (turn on the A/C and no air, then while driving air would come on). Overpriced and underpowered. Total waste of money, and time. Don't even start talking about resale/trade value.

I can ask my brother for more information if needed. All I can say he later traded his for an RX330 (more power, smaller engine, a million times more reliable and never looked back). I wouldn't waste money on most British cars anyways.

If you want one badly, lease one. At least you won't be stuck with it forever.

yeah the resale is terrible nothing like buying a 80K range rover then 2-3 years later it worth less than 30K even less if it has no fact. warranty left over

Why not try a Hyundai. They are just as good for less money.

Sorry; I could not resist the urge to get this out of the way.

On a more serious note; I had a co-worker who owned a Land Rover Discovery and had nothing but problems with it. I do not remember the year of the vehicle but I know it was only a few years old. He was having a lot of problems with it and even though it was still under warranty he had to fight with the dealers all of the time. Transmission problems and electrical problems (if I remember correctly, these were power windows, locks and interior light problems) I remember him speaking of often.

They are apparently junk. I service the Rover dealer in town and they constantly have electrical problems, dashes torn apart for weeks, engines losing headgaskets at 25-35k miles, etc... i wouldnt own one, although they are nice looking, looks don't get you to the grocery store.
