Range Rovers always have had dependability issuess, they are plagued with problems even new ones. The Mercedes' aren't too much better.
If I were you, I'd look into the Lexus LX or LS460 if you want something luxurious and dependable.
Problems arise quite frequently. Sadly I love these trucks but they stay in the shop more than anything and I am not the only one that feels this way. It is such a shame because they ride so nice and are so well built; craftsmen wise. Mechanically, I just do not understand what they can't get right, especially with all the years the vehicle has been in production.

NO, that's exactly why they don't hold up and have so many premature failures of components and systems.
No other manufacturer puts out a vehicle where major (and minor) suspension hard parts fail so early in their service life, as an example, or has such problems today with engine cooling systems or engine hard parts or electronics/electrical systems.
The workmanship/craftsmanship/design/execution of these cars is pathetic when measured against any other car .... except, perhaps for issues of no importance regarding how the car gets down the road, or not. Fabulous leather seating, beautifully detailed fit/finish of body components, llovely styling, snob appeal of the sales force, etc. ... does not get a car down the road.

it's nuts cause the air suspension will cost over 7K to repair after I looked it up
Those were the Range Rovers I liked, but after all these years, I still stayed away from them.
For their displacement, I think they're underpowered. (power to weight ratio sucks). It's crazy how much the air suspension would cost to repair. I could buy a few more Range Rovers like the one shown here, for that amount.
A friend had a 1996 Disco, had heating issues at 60k and he blew up the engine.
My sister had a 2000 Disco, similar heating problems along with a host of other problems.
Both did not buy Land Rovers (again).
Friend #1 bought a plain Camry and boy was he happy never having to go to the dealer for a variety of repairs.
My sister bought a Honda Element. She thought it was ugly, called it a toaster on wheels, but never missed the Discovery. No more Land Rovers in her future, as well.
buy it cheap, ls1, 4l60e, run with it and be reliable
