Anybody own a 2009-2012 Range Rover Sport? I just bought one a few weeks ago, and I must say I am less than impressed with the handling. I picked the RR over a X5 and now I am thinking I should have gone wiht the X5. I have researched a few other forums and have heard a few others say the same thing.

Just wondering if I am being too picky.

RR Sport = clunky, top-heavy box, designed by the company famous for off-roading vehicles.

BMW X5 = low, wide and designed to handle by the company that invented handling.

You're comparing oranges to cactus here...

Dumb question, but I gotta ask. How did you not know this before dropping $60K+?

I knew it wasn't going to handle like the BMW, and I did do a bit of research before I bought. I was just surprised at how it handled. I love the car, this is honestly my only complaint, and I know others have shared this same thought.

Research smeesearch. When you test drove it and the BMW, didn't you notice? I understand that you may now have been able to shake out every detail of performance, but I would think in half an hour you'd feel that it's not close to the BMW. Just curious.

You will pay for the privilege, even under warranty, of driving that. The warranty may cover your repairs, but you will be driving a loaner often.

When you buy a Land Rover, you're paying for the prestige of that little green badge, not a high performance machine. Land Rovers haven't been "special" on their own since the Defender.

I live in Downtown Chicago, so the reason I bought it over the X5 was comfort/appearance, most of my driving is on crowded city streets, so I don't really have the opportunity to really see what it has. I took it out of the city last week and thought it underperformed in the handling category. Overall, I actually love the car.

Are there other settings that may allow it to perform better? Since you've always had it in the city, the settings, whatever they may be, are probably optimized for city driving.

Who cares? The RR looks a lot better than the BMW. If you're doing mostly in-town driving (ChiTown at that!!) I wouldn't be too concerned.
