It will be placed somewhere in the SE. The Northeast has oppressive corporate taxes and that laughingstock UAW won't help the case other than to put the plant somewhere in the Southeast.
Well, given that Honda, Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia, and Toyota are all now or will be sited within 150 miles of Birmingham, Alabama, and Volkswagen/Porsche is looking like it will be next, I would probably offer up Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Georgia. Add the fact that Thyssen Krupp is building an enormous steel plant near Mobile, Alabama, and the state has to look pretty good to Germans already.
Those states have inexpensive land, good incentive packages (But no longer giving away the store), good transportation, inexpensive power, low taxation, and an established network of technical training schools. Further, with more and more suppliers putting their distribution and manufacturing facilities in the area as well, Alabama is pretty much now on the map.
