Every time I go Jiffy Lube or Quick Lube I often get asked if I want to get an engine flush. I never have, but what do you think of this? Is it worth the money or is it a scam to get ignorant car people like me to spend more?
Well, my vote is NO...as long as you use decent oil and keep it changed regularly engine flush is not needed in my opinion. Taking your car to Jiffly Lube, it will only be a short time until they forget to put oil in your engine and have to buy you a new one anyway, haha just playing.
No, i would not do it ,if you change your oil regularly. The way they do it.They put some cleaning solution in the oil and let it run for a few minutes.I don't believe that will totally clean your engine in three minutes.I use fully synthetic oil.It have detergents in the mix to keep your engine cleaner. If you feel you want to clean your engine use synthetic one time, then go back to conventional oil.
Engine flush has nothing to do with the oil...it your cooling system!! Yes you should, I do mine every fall then put fresh antifreeze in!!
Wrong Katie. Engine flushing has been used to clean out the oil "gunk" (old congealed oil)in engines. It can cause problems with oil seals making them leak. I wouldn't recommend it.
Cooling system flushing, however, is needed to be performed (every1-2 years I think) where your coolant is removed and replaced with fresh coolant. The cooling system flushing is needed.
Engine flush....you can buy that stuff at most any auto parts store.....all it is is diesel fuel, you add it to your engine oil and run it for 5 minutes (NOT UNDER LOAD) before you drain the oil, it is supposed to clean all the sludge out of the engine....though I have tried it I don't think it really works as well as they say it does....it does thin the oil out quite a bit though. Not really recommended on a turbocharged engine.
