They may be made in america, but it doesn't mean that americans are building them. Machines took a lot of these workers out. American companies do not mean that we are supporting the american people, but big corporations. Most manufacturing is being made overseas...so the big globalization.

I can agree some of today's foreign cars hold up better than american, but I believe there was once a time 36 years ago when an american car was built to last and foreign car manufacturers were not built very well at all.
I don't hate American cars. In fact, I drive an American car.....a Honda Accord made in Ohio.

I decided to go American and buy that Honda after driving a Mexican-made Chevy.

A long time ago. I had a buddy who drove a Escort (I know, its not a Chevy) that was made in Mexico in 1988. Chevy is also having vehicles built in China.

Many of the parts are from overseas, so what? The "American" cars also have a lot of foreign parts. Hell, many of them are rebadged foreign cars....the Chevy Aveo is actually a Korean-made Daewoo.

The fact is...the "American" car companies are continually closing down plants and moving out of the country, while the "foreign" companies are moving more and more of their production here. Most Hondas and Toyotas sold in American are made in America. So while GM pays peanuts to Paco, Jose, or Wang Chung Lee to build its cars....Honda is paying Americans in Ohio a good wage to build their cars.

And then there's the reality that the Japanese companies make a much better product than the Big 3. I'm not going to pass over a good reliable car and buy an unreliable piece of garbage just to wave my flag and say I "bought American."

GM is building vehicles in China for the Chinese market. They are not for re-import to the U.S. market. Yet anyway.

That's no problem. You just make sure you buy a reliable American car, like the ones I listed earlier.
That's what I do... so I can drive a reliable car and at the same time say, "I bought American."
