Definitely not a rant, im a Cadillac nut myself. As is my Dad and Brother. My first car in 87 was a mint 78 Eldorado, miss that car alot. Also had a few others. Currently have an 06 CTS, well actually its the wifes car. But always wanted a 68-70 coupe deville to work on. They were IMO the nicest designs Caddy ever put out. Nothing like a big sleeper sitting at a red light.

Automatic transmissions stopped being a slush box a long time ago. Especially when they have a shift kit like on my '69 Cadillac... nice, firm shifts.

Great point, Fleet

Also, in the past when Cadillac did offer Manual Transmissions . . . NO ONE cared or purchased.

I believe the CTS-V is available with a SIX Speed Manual.

Good to know there are "others" on this forum! My first car in 04 (im 21) was actually that '68!!! Everyone told me NO NO NO, stupid purchase! It was... it was ridiculous seeing me drive that car to highschool everyday... actually EVERYWHERE for that matter! It was the best stupid decision of my life, I love that car!

Its not my daily anymore though, I bought a Caprice 9C1 so that '68 could continue never to see a snowflake, and then I recently saved up and bought a '95 Fleetwood Brougham, I got it in August and only drove it for a month till I put it in storage... I CANNOT wait to get both Caddies back on the road, I haven't driven the '68 in 3 years due to the resto I have been doing to it.... should be done this spring though, just painting stuff, I will start a thread and show you my progress.

As for those companies... I have used them both in the rebuild of my 472 and other various things. Great companies, both of them!

For the record, the last time a manual transmission was offered on a Cadillac from the past was in 1953 on the series 75s. From 1954 and later, only automatics (until they reappeared).

They didn't offer it in the Cadillac Cavalier -- er, Cimarron?

That is why I said 1953 was the last time manuals were offered until they reappeared, meaning on the Cimarron and other '80s Cads.
