MPG question on used cars

Yeah, okay, but OP sounds like a person in somewhat of a budget crunch. I doubt an old Mercedes is the vehicle to recommend to cure that ill.

And they don't get anywhere near as good of mileage as he says. Average on that engine is around 23MPG according to owners.

I have a 1994 Volvo 940, don't drive it very much anymore though. I know what the mileage was pretty well since the fuel gauge didn't work, so I had to keep track off how many miles I drove after filling it up. Anyway, I was getting very close to 30 as it would take about 7 gallons to fill up after 200 miles. Volvos from that age range are great cars, other than the AC of course.
