I've wanted to ask this for a long time, but don't want to cause a ruckus. My question is simple, and I really can't think of a reasonable answer. Why do some folks drive in a heavy fog without turning on their lights?
I saw it again this morning: Mini Coopers, concrete trucks, it's not any one type of vehicle. And, it's the gray-colored ones that are hardest to see. I know that you can see to navigate, but aren't you concerned that someone might not see you?
Okay, let me have it; I'll duck.
Don't even get me started on that. I was an OTR trucker back in the day, and my primary work vehicle currently is a truck with a topper - I rely 100% on side mirrors to see what's going on beside and behind me while driving.
This is funny, because on the way home from work today in total pouring rain on the freeway I went off on a rant to my helper about this very thing. It's not only fog - but in heavy rain or snow, same deal. Makes me nuts. Black, gray and silver cars are the worst for being invisible without lights.
Kind of like the bozos who drive with just their parking/running lights on until it's almost dark. Never understood that one. I guess they think they look cool
Just turn on your headlights and get it over with.

Yeah, that's like saying "hey! Look at me! I'm so cool I have the ability to turn on my parking lights and nothing else!" Ooh! Technology! I has!
As a teenager I kissed fenders with a guy doing just that. It was a cool
fall morning with thick heavy fog and virtually no sunlight. I was stuck behind a slow moving school bus waiting for a clear spot to pass. When the spot came I looked around, didn't see anyone, turned on my turn signal, and began moving into the left lane. Seems someone several cars back in a dark vehicle with no lights got impatient and my rear driverside fender kissed his front passenger side fender.

Willful and staggering stupidity. People can't get out of their own little special world to even comprehend that not only do they need to see, but to be seen.
I also find the ones that exhibit such utter stupidity also drive a silver or gray car that matches the fog.
Not much different than the idiots with daytime running lights that don't turn on their lights after dark, not being able to figure out that they can't see their instrument panel or that their headlights are kinda dim.

This is the worst... how stupid can they be? How can you miss noticing the dash is not illuminated? Younger women are the number one offenders of this from my experience, probably too distracted with texting to notice.
