If you were in the market for a new heavy-duty truck, what would be your choice?

I think Ford did an EXCELLENT job with the 2011 Super Duty, love the look and the redesigned interior. The 6.7L diesel, from preliminary reports, seems to be one helluva good engine. I think it's a winner.

Ford! I'd honestly consider the 6.2 gasser... Dad has his first gas pickup in 25 years and he seems to be liking it. The 2011 F250 crew cab with all sorts of toys.

Cheby... the Allison transmissions rock, and the new design is light years better.

Unless your going to do a lot of highway towing the diesel is a waste of money. I've has a F250 4X4 diesel since 1995 and I have towed many times with it but not enough to recoup the extra $4,000. that the diesel cost over the big block gas model. I don't have any complaints about the diesel engine except for the 14 quart oil changes and $10. filter.
If you put on a lot of miles and do a lot of towing then the diesel is probably a better choice.

I'm not sure which one is best. I just know that my vehicles are mostly GM and none of the other two marques. I do own a puny '03 1/2-ton 2wd Silverado ECSB w/ 5.3l to tow my Corvette with.

Default best of all

my choice for a chassis is the ford 450 or 550. that said its with a cummins engine. Just did a conversion for a guy, took out the ford 6.o and put in a cummins. what a sweeet truck. I think the best diesels would be without all the epa garbage thats required. but thats another thread.
