Just wondering what are your thoughts on car shows and the ones you attend.

Well...I guess if we attend, that must mean we enjoy going/showing! We have any number of them in our area...One is Houston Cars and Coffee which has a huge following...expect to see the cream de la creme of the Exotics, along with muscle cars...very little crap, and when they are...they are usually a works in progress.
Then there is a "every Sat. night" get together at a Home Depot parking lot...your bound to see anything there...which is fine. Just a bunch of "car people" getting together and showing their cars (whatever it maybe). We have 2 that we show often. Some the "parking lot" shows...other times the "better" shows. We enjoy them all.

Nice. What do you mean judging by points and not by people?

The spokesgirls that stand on the rotating car platform and read the BS about the cars are always the main attraction. I have a buddy of mine who always insists on getting down on his hands and knees to look under the car when it is rotating and just happens to still be in that position when the mini skirt owner rotates into view also.

I hate them. Barrett-Jackson will soon be in Scottsdale and I will, once again, be driven into mad fits of jealousy that all those lovely vehicles aren't parked in my garage.

Same here. What I miss are the days of the regular cruise night, where al teh kids and older car enthusiasts would simply show up downtown with everything from dad's station wagon to hot rods and customs. it wasn't formal, it was just people that used cars as social networking, but the cars were still the stars. While I like cars 'n coffee events, it's a little TOO elitist/snobby. And the segregationist attitude of those and marque shows show just how badly fractured the hobby has become.

speaking of barret jackson it is nice to see the cars have come down to normal price not 100K for a small block 289 1966 mustang that they were selling them at 3-4 years ago

now they fetch $20k-$30K depend on colour and condition which is about where a number matching 60's small block mustang should sell for.

I will attend car shows as a spectator to see what's out there and what's for sale.
I never owned a car that was show quality but I have had a few that knew the fast way around a road course.
