I'm hoping you guys can give me some pointers since I don't know much about cars and I don't want to sound like a complete idiot when I take my car in to the shop.
Over the last week or so my 99 lumina has developed a rough ride, feels kind of like I 'm driving on a wooden roller coaster track, with a strong pull to the right. Higher speeds make the ride rougher. The steering wheel jitters.
I haven't hit any potholes or run over anything lately, so I'm thinking it's probably not something as simple as an alignment, but I'm afraid to contemplate what it might be.
Anybody want to give me their thoughts on what else it could be be?
i would do an alignment and tire balancing. won't cost more than $100 for both most likely. if that doesn't fix the problem check out your control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings.
also, look at the spot where the front axles connect with the hub, if that rubber boot has grease all over it or is ripped, you will need new CV joints/axles most likely.
start off with the small things first so you can eliminate those before panicking too badly.
