I'm not sure, if the product today is so horrible, why you continue to follow the sport and comment on it. You do know that posting about it on CD isn't going to change anything, right?

we have no idea what the product is now with the new car. We got some glimpses of it on Sunday.. Which tells us that apparently problems with knocking the valve stem off the tires won't be a large issue.. But, like when fuel injection and all came into play, with all the new stuff, there's going to be growing pains. I recall when FI came in, like all three (at the time) Gibbs cars fell out of a race with fuel pump issues.
The composite bodies, we have some experience with from Xfinity. They certainly seem to be pretty tough. Darlington will likely be a strong test for them in the cup series. Or Bristol. last weekend, remember, those were low speeds, speeds lower than anything else we'll see throughout the season.
An exhibition race, more than something running 60mph.. Might have been a wise thing.
That's what concerns me.. The quality of racing. As far as sponsors.. Look, i've said it before. If their money is green.. Someone will put them on a car, or at least try. There was a huge outcry about hard liquor sponsors back around 2000.. They came and went. We've had Viagra sponsoring a car. The BLM sponsorship.. They did open themselves up for hyprocracy. I mean, you're going to allow that, and then block another 'political' sponsor.. What if Spotify wanted to sponsor a car and put Joe Rogan on the hood? I bet right now that'd get some looks from on high.
Did I think that coliseum race was racing? No. Not NASCAR racing. Of course, remember that I think Bristol is better now than it was back in the 90s when it was a single groove track. I don't necessarily mind the occasional bump and run, but it should not be a focus of racing. That XFinity finale last year with Hemric and Cendrick was awesome. That.. Really wasn't a bump and run, more a banzai run than anything..
Bristol dirt was awful.. I'm OK with them trying some new things.. But, shelve them when they don't work. There's a reason people are liking more road course racing nowadays. The racing is far better.

How many of those 4.28 million will be back? Now, there's advantages to getting new eyes on the sport, but keeping them is more important.
The hypocrisy. .. There they risk alienating a segment. and.. The problem with that is.. it's their base that they're possibly alienating. So now, you're bringing in eyes that won't stay.. And pushing away the people who keep you running.
Personally.. I don't pay much attention to who they allow or don't allow as a sponsor. The racing is what matters to me.. But, there's alot of people it does matter to. The old time fans.

BTW, it's not so much the actual product of racing, it is, as the saying goes... " I didn't leave NASCAR, NASCAR left me".
Some years back at Church there was this guy who ALWAYS wore his Budweiser/Dale Jr #8 jacket, and like clockwork every Sunday he and his wife would get up and walk out early before the service was over, because on the west coast the Race would be starting before Church was over. I have never been that guy, but I certainly never dilly-dallied as soon as church was over, we beat feet to get home. To answer your question, I was a diehard fan of what NASCAR was... that is why it is so sickening to see what it has become. I hadn't watched much for years, until 2 years ago when Chase won the Championship. Then last year Larson gave me reason to stay tuned even though we don't have cable, so we only saw about half the races. It was a great story and MAN what a contrast to the Wallace drama NASCAR was pushing.
This year, all things considered, there were a few things that I was interested in how they were going to go. 1, that Sh*t show we just watched last weekend. 2, the new car, at this point don't really care. Looks like they're going to have a lot of bugs being worked out through the season. 3, how is Brad going to do at /with Roush.
None of which at this point would get me to leave church early or even hurry home.
I do hope Brad / Roush have some success. Hope Almirola has a good last year. Was pulling for Bowman along with Larson and was hoping he would go all the way but after last weekend...

Silas777, it's all about demographics. You are no longer their target audience. It sucks for you, but the reality is grow or die. Just look at all the stuff the NFL is doing. Yeah, the old timers hate it, but the young fans are flocking to the sport in record numbers.
The NFL signed massive contracts that start in 2023. Despite them being way more woke that NASCAR. The whole kneeling thing chased off a lot of viewers. The NFL just adjusted and went younger. You know, the folks who actually buy stuff.
So, continue to lament the good ole days of NASCAR when rednecks and rebel flags dominated the infields. But those days aren't coming back. NASCAR doesn't want those fans anymore and they've been pretty obvious about it. Brian may be high in the dark, but he's looking for a way to make money and keep the sport going. The next NASCAR contract is going to tell the future. Racing is much better on a 75" flatscreen. Replays and all that.
Maybe you should spend some time listening to the Dale Jr Download. Lots of old time drivers on there talk about how Old Bill directed the flow of the sport to his liking, although it wasn't always fair. Dale runs you over, that's just racing. Complain about it after the race? $10,000 fine.
Trevor Bayne 7 races in the 18 Xfinity car.. That's.. odd.
But, it also answers a question, I suppose.. That has to mean that Ty Gibbs will be in the 54 and it'll no longer be the 'star car'. Though I suppose he could go in the 20 and they don't run the 54.
