So, testing in Barcelona: Lewis Hamilton, in the Mercedes, is able to use (and then shut off) a new system called DAS (dual axis steering), which allegedly changes toe. It involves pushing or pulling the entire steering wheel in toward the dash or back out toward the driver.
Lots of noise and opinions up and down the pit lanes and amongst the "talkerati" about the legality of this.
Day 1 Hamilton was fastest on the softest tires, Day 2 Kimi and the Alfa was fastest on the softest tires.

I was surprised to read that the normal F1 set-up is a little toe-out on the front. That being the case they may well pick up a little speed on longer straights by neutralizing that. Plus it's hard to overestimate the value of getting the other teams scratching their heads.

Aw geeze, sounds like Hamilton has 2020 wrapped up before it's even begun. Guess 2020 will be a NASCAR year for me.
For a quick F1 fix, Season 2 of "Drive to Survive," the Netflix behind-the-scenes F1 documentary, starts this Friday. One wonders if Gunther Steiner will be as amusing this year. I understand both Mercedes and Ferrari were supposed to have participated more this season, it'll be interesting to hear the Ferrari spin on the 2019 season.

Have a new idea that nobody else has thought of?? Sorry, new ideas are no longer allowed in F1:
A team has been formed to analyse the rules and approach them from the engineering side to ensure that no team can find hidden advantages and gain dramatically over its rivals with a unique concept.
