I doubt if NASCAR will suddenly gain fans since NASCAR "woke".

More than likely they will continue to lose fans. The new people that NASCAR is trying to cater to, I don't see being future diehard fans of stock car racing. The people in these movements just want to burn everything down it seems and they want these corporations to bow down to them. They have no loyalty other than to themselves.

Now the publicity NASCAR got for it's faux outrage is probably good for their sponsors and bottom line for now. But as die hard fans leave and new fans don't replace them, NASCAR will be wondering what they did wrong.

My issue isn't the initial reaction an honest mistake. My problem is that now that it's revealed that the rope was a door-pull, Bubba won't accept that fact. His, "It's a straight up noose" is B.S. If he truly want's to man up, accept and announce that it was all a big misunderstanding and that it was not a noose; it was a rope with a hand bight (loop) on the end to facilitate closing the door.

here's photographic proof NASCAR has pull ropes in their garages (from a youtube video):

The thing is that NASCAR knew this would be a hot button, critical mass issue and if I had been them, I would want to make sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that once they let the genie out of the bottle, they would never get it back in.

NASCAR could have waited 24 hours. They could have informed Bubba and said let's let the investigation playout a little to see if we should tell the world. They could have given Bubba extra security and said that Tuesday morning we will make a joint statement and back you 100% if the FBI says this is real.

But they instead they chose to cover the asses, knee jerk reaction.

In one way.. They couldn't do that because they'd be accused of trying to cover it up.

So.. Somewhat, I give them a pass there. But, I still hold them accountable for not saying something along the lines of "We're turning this over, we're bringing in the FBI to do due diligence.. HOWEVER.. This appears to be the garage door pull rope and many of the garage stalls have a rope tied in this manner"

Now, there's a possibility with that where they'd be accused of downplaying it. But.. You could take the above statement and add some "If it is determined..." in there to punch up the 'taking a stand' angle.

Most of America could have lived with that statement I believe.

Now Bubba is mad because his reputation has been hurt. He's the one who road the short but strong wave that NASCAR created for him. He was loving every second(s) of it. He called the blogger who broke the news "simple-minded". So he's saying if you didn't believe him, y'all are just "simple-minded folks" spending your Sunday afternoons in your basements watch NASCAR on your TV.

Both he and NASCAR needs to aplogize LIVE on TV to all of its fans before next Sunday's race.

I agree. And if he does, I'll even make a donation to Richard Petty's Victory Junction. If he doesn't, he's lost a fan (and probably not just one).

If someone cut the "garage pull" then hung it over the 43 car in the garage, then it's a hate crime. But the FBI says it's not, so all I can say is that this is a mess. Bubba could answer a lot of questions by releasing the "evidence" since no charges are to be filed.

Its was hanging there as a door pull, before Bubba was even assigned that garage space. Its all about nothing. NASCAR will live on without Bubba, or anybody else. But I stopped watching years ago after Dale was gone, the chase BS and now 3 races in one.
