I guess this is what happens when you let too many cooks in the kitchen. Pretty bad when even the people that helped draft the stupid rules have no clue who's on first...

Any chance the 600 will be a good race, or should I just tune in the last 50 laps?

considering they are starting in the heat of the day, and assuming no bad weather, it should be an interesting race depending on your point of view.

Just mentioning the HOF class announced yesterday..

Benny Parsons.. I'd love to say this was overdue, but.. It's about right. He wasn't a first, second or third class.. Maybe he should have gotten in a vote earlier, but.. Honestly, I think he deserved to be in more due to his broadcasting career than his driving career.. But, it makes me feel good that Bobby will eventually be elected.

Rick Hendrick - Deserves it totally.. But.. I have something of an oogy feeling about active folks being in.. Though.. Another side of me says I want folks to get in while they're alive, and for that to happen with owners..

Mark Martin - Good choice. Nothing more needs to be said. No question HOFer

Raymond Parks - Deserving.. MAYBE a bit soon, but I wouldn't argue that too hard.

Richard Childress - See the comments on Hendrick

If there's one that I am sad didn't make it.. Buddy Baker.

Noone on the list doesn't deserve to be in. Trying to rank who goes in over who.. Doesn't really matter, because with 5 per year.. They're going to run out of top people to put in after about 15 years.

Buddy and Benny are very similar. Benny has a few more wins.. Buddy has a few more top 5's.. Benny has the championship.. Buddy ran more races. Benny's broadcasting career, I thought, was a bit more solid than Buddy's.. Both very deserving.

Harry Hyde is the next on my wish list for getting in. Not enough crew chiefs in.

And.. I'd like to see 2 people that are deserving, but not thought of much.. Humpy Wheeler and T. Wayne Robertson. More recent fans likely know of Humpy, but alot have forgotten T. Wayne.

Can't argue with any those guys. Benny did so much to help popularize the sports when he was in the booth. His impact can't be denied.

And if Nascar continues to lose fans, the HOF will be empty and up for lease by then. (I'm being sorta sarcastic.)
